BGF-backed hedgehog lab has appointed Malcolm Seagrave as chief executive, following 18 months as managing director. He succeeds co-founder Sarat Pediredla, who announced plans to step down at the end of 2025.

A track record of scaling

Seagrave led BJSS from 140 to 1,400 people before its sale to CGI, and helped AND Digital grow from 170 to 1,500 people by heading up its Northern operation.

Strong growth

Turnover at hedgehog lab rose 30% last year, with growth accelerating in the second half of 2025. The consultancy aims to reach £50m, creating hundreds of jobs across the North of England and Scotland.

Seagrave said AI is built into everything the company works on, with pure-play AI work now accounting for around 40% of the business and growing.
