This notice explains what personal information North East Founders (“we”) collects when you use this website, why we collect it and what rights you have. It is written for readers in the UK and follows UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR.
What we collect
If you sign up to The Monthly Briefing, we collect your email address so we can send you the newsletter. Sign-ups are processed by our email provider, Mailchimp (Intuit), which stores your address on our behalf. If you use our Submit news form, it opens an email from your own email account to our newsroom with the details you entered.
When you browse the site, basic technical information such as your browser type and pages viewed may be collected by our hosting provider to keep the site secure and running.
How we use it
We use newsletter details only to send The Monthly Briefing and occasional updates about North East Founders. We use submission details only to assess and report on the news you send us. We never sell your personal information.
Lawful basis
We send the newsletter on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email. We handle news submissions on the basis of our legitimate interest in reporting on North East business.
Cookies and local storage
We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies. If you use Save, the list of stories you’ve saved is kept in your browser’s local storage on your own device and is never sent to us. If we add analytics or advertising cookies in future, we will ask for your consent first and update this notice.
How long we keep it
We keep newsletter details until you unsubscribe, and news submissions for as long as they are needed for reporting, after which they are deleted.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, email privacy@northeastfounders.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
