Sunderland workforce technology company Moralbox has raised £550,000, led by Northstar Ventures’ Venture Sunderland Fund.

The fund invested £350,000, its third investment, alongside £150,000 from Creative UK’s North East Fund and £50,000 from angel investors.

What Moralbox does

Its platform lets companies check staff qualifications and accreditations, manage training, identify skills gaps and stay compliant with regulations. Customers work in highly regulated, labour-intensive sectors such as food production, construction and care, and include Thompsons of Prudhoe and Cranswick Yorkshire Baker.

Next steps

The company already supports clients in five countries across four continents. It is building a Workforce Manager tool and integrating AI to anticipate training needs and create personalised training pathways. Steve Spark, who has experience scaling SaaS businesses including Mandata and 4Projects, has joined as chair.
