Sunderland workforce technology company Moralbox has rebranded as Workprove as it scales up and plans international expansion.

The business was founded in 2013 by chief executive Gordon MacPherson and chief technology officer John Dunnill, and now operates across five countries and four continents.

What it does

Workprove replaces spreadsheets with a live training matrix that tracks expiring certifications and missing competencies in real time.

Backing and growth

In 2025 it raised £350,000 led by Northstar Ventures’ Venture Sunderland Fund, with £150,000 from Creative UK’s North East Fund and £50,000 from angel investors. The money is going into product development, AI, sales and marketing.

The team has grown from three to 11 people, with plans to reach 16 by the end of 2026, and the company aims for £10m of revenue within five years. Steve Spark has joined as chair.
