B Corp law firm Square One Law has marked its 15th anniversary, with more than 300 staff, clients and partners gathering at BALTIC in Gateshead in September.

The firm was founded in 2011 with the aim of giving businesses flexible, plain-English legal advice. It says that approach has stayed central to its work as the firm has grown.

Growing beyond the North East

Square One Law has continued to expand outside the region, particularly in Yorkshire. Its 18-strong Leeds team recently moved into larger, 3,000 sq ft premises at 7 Park Row.

Jean-Pierre van Zyl, head of the firm’s employment team, said its next chapter would build on the same principles of working flexibly and “speaking plainly”. The firm plans further growth in Yorkshire and will continue to focus on sectors including energy, technology and health and life sciences.
