Atom Bank has opened its new headquarters at the historic Pattern Shop in Newcastle, moving from its previous home in Durham.

600 staff and 30 new jobs

The move brings 600 employees to the new building and creates 30 new roles, ranging from technical jobs in engineering and data to operations positions, including 14 in customer support.

A statement about the region

Chief executive Mark Mullen called the move a bold statement about the bank’s future and its belief in the North East. He said the building celebrates the region’s industrial past while giving staff a modern, flexible home, and shows that an innovative, profitable business can thrive in the region.

Atom launched in April 2016 as the UK’s first app-based bank and offers mortgages, savings and business lending for small and medium-sized enterprises.
