Legal AI start-up AttiFin AI is relocating from London to Tyneside after securing £5m of seed funding, with plans to create 25 developer jobs ahead of a launch next year.
What it is building
The company is developing what it says will be the UK’s first enterprise-grade AI platform trained specifically on UK and devolved law.
It was founded by chief executive Shilpa Kaluti and is backed by the founders of Newcastle software consultancy Scrumconnect. The name is inspired by Atticus Finch, the lawyer in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird.
Why the North East
Kaluti has praised the region’s tech potential, arguing that innovative technology companies do not need to be based only in London and the South East.
